Llano County Heritage Festival
The Llano River Chuckwagon Cookoff takes place the third weekend of October as part of the Llano County Heritage Days Festival in Llano, Texas.
The Heritage Festival is held on and around the Llano County Courthouse Square. The Chuckwagon Cookoff is held on the banks of the Llano River in Badu Park.
Llano's Heritage Festival includes live music and food vendors.
Antique quilts and historical photographs will be on display.
The Badland Texas Rangers out of Sabinal, Texas will once again be part of the Llano County Heritage Festival. The Badland Texas Rangers are a living history re-enactment organization. They represent the Texas Rangers, Frontier Battalion, Company "D", for the period of 1874 to 1901. They wear period costumes as they work to keep alive an important part of history.
Tours of the Red Top Jail will be held during the Festival.
The Heritage Festival
was started in 1989 when Llano's downtown area was selected to be in the National
Register of Historic Places as the Llano County Courthouse Historic District. The Heritage Festival
continues to be a highlight of the fall calendar for Llano.
The Llano County Heritage Festival celebrates heritage with living history
demonstrations, reenactments, music, food vendors, antiques, collectables,
heritage arts and crafts, family history displays.
All attendees are encouraged to wear period costume. |
